Hey @Dave and @VdW9 i thought of an idea. Since we're working with tons of destinations under the same class with same template, we can use "mail merge" function in Microsoft Word and a corresponding Excel sheet with raw data. This will generate the template source code of each individual destination. Copy paste and voila!

Shall we try this out for excavation destinations? I did a simple prototype and it works great. Unfortunately this thread doesn't allow me to upload Word and Excel files...

You can try it. I'm in the process of uploading the pictures for Excavation Flights, just please don't delete the pictures. Haha.

It's 1am here so i'll go to bed and leave the excavation flights section to be done over the weekend.

Created a spreadsheet to summarise all the data inputs (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1xMFIxBW4LfXCYvsHnhAw6FTO_HlyanPf/edit#gid=358755755). Will use these data to run Mail Merge in MS Word and generate the source codes in bulk.

Appreciate if anyone familiar could please add in the gold/exp for level 80 flights, as well as catalyst & fuel speed up for all :)

@Dave so is normal one by one input dead? Makes more sense if it can be done like this, but not sure what I can do next now.

As great as what @exwhy has done, I really don't understand it. However if it makes updating sections easier for those that do know, that is a bonus.

Like you, I shall be doing the one line input.

The problem with mail merge is that someone has to host the master document and the information file. Exwhy deletes his file, the connection will be lost. But Im not an expert either, only ever used it for myself.

I think, when everything is ready, @exwhy will manually copy-pasted it to the forum wiki. However, I never use mail merge myself, so I can now only imagine what it does without trying it myself.

The idea of a mail merge is to have a base template (the coding) with customised fields (flight data). It then creates the entire block of code for each individual wiki page.

I figured that it would be an efficient way to input the data into wiki with minimal human error and manual work, while you're right in that the host has to run the mail merge program and paste the individual pages of codes.

I'll upload screenshots of the mail merge result when I get back to my laptop perhaps in a day's time (y) @Madge if you could bear with me while I do mail merge for the excavation flight section, I'll appreciate if you could help fill in those blanks in the data. My account isn't able to see the level 80 flight rewards. It's also fine to upload pictures of the destinations at the meantime.

Ok I can’t do much, I don’t fly condor. Only thing that concerns me with mail merge is the need to disassociate after you’ve merged so the main docs don’t need to be kept. I’ve done merge with student reports and I know if you move the files you lose the association. Is wiki going to outlive you? ! 😚 or is it a one off merge and then dissassociate accts? I’ll wait and see.

I wouldn’t put anything in this section as if he merges his info in, it’ll be a double work. We need to do something different .
Ok.

Just to double checked, I was going to go through the alliance maps and alliance flights tonight and add the two additional fields into every destination. Hold fire on those as well?

I would think it is a done deal once pasted to wiki but am ignorant of the program so not certain.
I will say it is another way to get this done but not sure it minimizes error or work. Data still has to be
input and code needs to be pasted as is the case with every page.

Not sure what your working with but on the other wiki what I found easy was to make sub templates
for each type of say flights, destinations etc. For flights I would go to a flight that was done and copy
the entire code, then paste it into word/notepad etc. remove the previous flights data and save it as
a flight template. Now I would just collect a bunch of flight data copy the flight template. open a new page
paste enter data save page start new page enter data save page .........................
If your working with something else and this is all irrelevant my apologies for wasting time.

BTW great job busting this out, would have been wonderful to have collaboration like this
back when I was doing it.
