@Wabbitgirl - If you created it, you should be able to see it. It's not showing as a public thread, so you were successful in creating a private one.

Other than maybe checking your display preferences for the forum, not sure what the solution would be. Sorry it's not much help.

@Wabbitgirl - As a thought, you can go to thread tools at the top (Where you normally click to watch a thread) and see if you make it public, then go private again. Maybe that will do something for you.

Thanks for the help but nothing works, even going directly from the link of the thread from the member who can see it. Now I am wondering if I had to invite myself to this private thread also. I didn't because I didn't think I would have to since I started it. Maybe someone will have to delete it and I can try again.

You don't have to invite yourself if you create it. I didn't add myself to a private thread I've started. Weird. Well hopefully @Dave can help you when he gets back around (Or @Cosmic Blue or @Gt city or @Kesh ).

Just an idea... can the Area 51 section be moved up to the top of the list on the main page (above "Airport City" with the news and guides and such)? Now that most of my conversations have been moved to Area 51, it'd be nice to get to them without scrolling down the page.

I am not sure I really see the point when conversations allow this already. What worries me is the prospect of the forum becoming a collection of private clubs - I think this might decrease the information available about space missions - both information about flights where participation and about those where the mission has a defined plan.

These private clubs were taking place anyway, except via conversations and not in private threads. There are limits on the amount of emails the forum is allowed to send per hour and the forum was exceeding that dramatically. Thousands of emails a day were being rejected and this could have a huge impact to the forum, especially if someone has just signed up and was awaiting their conformation email.

All minor options were taken by me to reduce this situation, however they didn't work. The final options available to me were to limit conversations so only one person can be invited, spend £200 plus a year to add a dedicated email server or implement the Private Threads.

Private Threads are for a group of players that wish to discuss their alliance tactics, launch together or have a certain trading arrangement.

Everything else still remains in the public, such as guides, launches, trading.

Sometimes I have to make decisions which not everyone will agree with, however I make these decisions with the best interests of the forum. Yes the site does receive a small amount of money each year via the ads and member upgrades, however a lot of money is also out layed on various licences, hosting, renewals each year. Another £200 a year outlay for a dedicated email service which would only benefit the minority is not something I was willing to consider.

As I have said previously this forum is brilliant and multiplys the enjoyment of the game. I honestly think the VIP cost is too low. Maybe a higher tier membership as well with some reward/benefit.

The issue with additional rewards/benefits is that when I add something to the forum, I like everyone to benefit from it, not just those that have paid.

I still remember the frustration almost 5 years ago when I first started playing AC and I needed items to complete buildings. At the time there was no-where to go to get friends to trade items with. That was the sole reason I created the site, so people can trade together and make the game much simpler and enjoyable. That's still the ethos I stick with today when considering everything on the site - Simple and fun.
