VERY IMPORTANT READ, IT CAN SAVE A LOT OF DOWN TIME!!!

I'm starting to hear a lot of users waiting on restore from GI. Don't wait on restore from them, you can save your own backup and restore your own game. If game crashes here is what to do. I have pasted below the folder were AC saves our game save file that GI uses to restore the game if needed. Go to that folder and copy and past all files to include folders to a location of your choice. Your folder may contain a lot of files that have random numbers, they are the new files from the migration of users profile pics from IPhone, Android, and Facebook. You don't need those, but leaving them is not going to hurt anything. Below is the path to the folder in the game were it is saved on your local PC. If game crashes just uninstall and reinstall the game and copy and paste over the files from your backup folder to the same folder the new reinstalled game in the same location as the link folder path below. Restart the game and your should see you last save point. I recommend making a backup about twice daily not to lose to much progress should you need to backup. I have had to do this several times with both my Turion and Okie games and it has worked every time. No waiting on GI to send me a restore code.

@Kris - A lot of the problems that are requiring us to obtain restore codes, is that the update messed up our games. Several of us - Myself included - couldn't even log into the game after the update. Just a white splash screen that showed a G! icon and the GameInsight name. I had backed up my game before updating. This was also the first time I updated manually. Most of the time, I get up the next morning and it's been updated.

After completing the update, I couldn't get into the game. Having just saved it, I uninstalled it, reinstalled it and played until level 5. I then attempted to insert the savegame.bin file that we used to do, and it had no effect on the game whatsoever. So, I started over again. Played until level 6, then contacted G! support. They eventually gave me a restore code, which included the "#" symbol, which I found out later that you need to input. I tried it and got the same message @Flo did a couple of pages back about not being able to visit neighbors because they haven't updated yet.

That's what I did once before when they released that mini update a couple of months ago. Hmm. Guess I could try uninstalling, then putting in the savegame.bin file then starting the game up again. Worth a try I suppose.

I got it. Been using it all day. Have 5 hours left on it. I like it since I am at a much lower level and can move up many levels in one day using it. I will be up to level 31 from 28 using it...

Hi - I have restarted my game three times since the update. Each time it goes back just to the state at the update, not level 1. I have found I only need to back up two files which I copy to a memory stick 2 or 3 times a day = they are SaveProfile.bin and playerprefs.dat - these are the 2 that update everytime you close the game. Either way, backing up is essential - I have a shortcut on the desktop, and save to a memory stick.

After the update, the file you need is SaveProfile.bin, SaveGame.bin seems frozeen at the point of update
