Hi everyone! If you can use another neighbour, please add me: 8KE7M4 (Win8).
I'll be adding one on my tablet too, I'll post my code here when I have it.
Also, I read in one of the threads about an AC co-op, but I can't remember if it was for Township or SimCity?
I have just unlocked the co-op and if there isn't one for AC members yet, let me know and if you like, I'll set it up.

I've joined a very active co-op where we mainly speak German but I'm online a lot, so I can usually translate if there are misunderstandings. Since the requests for products are shown in everyone's mother language, they are self-explinatory anyway and it's simply fun to work together with people from all over.
@crescent moon joined me there and I'm glad that you joined as well. If others who play township on a windows computer want to join us too, please let me know.

I started playing this game about 16 days ago. One on Windows 10 PC, one on Windows Phone. I tried to load one on a separate user account on my PC like AC, but it wouldn't do it (Kept loading a copy of the first game).

I keep seeing everyone referring to friend codes, but have not seen anything in my games referring to a friend code. I have Ernie and my 2nd game a neighbors on both games, and no friend codes were used.

I'm up to level 24 on my PC game, and level 20 on my phone game. It's a pretty fun game actually. Slower paced them AC, not as much clicking. It's a chess game trying to load planes, trains, fill orders and also keep the production lines moving along.

I'm glad to hear you like it. If you are on level 24, you can restore the pier if you haven't done so already. Once that is done, you can join our co-op, so save the money needed to restore the pier and then try to find the co-op "Muffin Corps" and join it, it's public and we still have 6 slots free. If you manage to join us within 36 hours, you can participate in the new regatta that will start then. Otherwise, you'll have to wait for a week until the next starts.

Regarding the friend code: When you click on the friends logo, you see several tabs and at the bottom of them a green button called "Invite friends". When you click on that button, you can see your own friend code and another green button called "Enter". When you click on Enter, you can enter a friend code that you got from someone. Since I play on Windows as well, you can try to add me by entering "CCV63B" withouth the quotation marks. Once you found me, you can also find our co-op by clicking on the pier in my township.

We're looking forward to adding new active members to our co-op so that we keep advancing in the ranks of the leagues and get better and more rewards for participating in the regattas.

I have the Co-op, Airport and Mine going already. When I added my 2 games to each other, I never saw anything like that. But will give it a look now.

Seems you found me, Tensberg. :) Welcome to our co-op. On the left of your screen, you have a small arrow pointing to the right now. If you click on that, you see the in-game chat with the option to send requests for items you need currently. The chat will also show your calls for help to fill your trains or planes to all other members of the co-op, so you'll usually get very quick help on those now.

Hi Ten, Glad to see you in the co-op. I started about 3 weeks ago - it's a fun game. My game name is Crescent Beach. (I'll bet you figured out that was me.:p:p:p)

Coincidentally enough, I had a feeling. :p :D I've been watching the alternative game thread for a while and kind of knew already, but thanks for confirming it!

Thought about SimCity Buildit, but since they only have that game on Android, I went with this one.

I played SimCity Buildit two years ago and in my view, it is very similar to Township but it offers much less and gets boring when you play it longer whereas Township keeps adding new elements and gets more and more complex. Of course they may have added stuff to SimCity Buildit as well since then but I like Township much more and won't bother to find out what may have changed in SimCity Buildit.

Time for a post on advanced strategy.

The crux of my strategy is: use the dealer to keep foundries supplied with ore in order to maximize production of ingots. Use ingots to speed up factories, trains, and islands. I have 3 forges running almost around the clock.

The dealer should cost 72 tcash (greenies) per 10 days. Do not pay more than this! See below.

Note: everything in here is based on the mobile version (iOS/Android/Kindle). I just don't know if things work differently on the desktop version.

1. Get tcash
To keep the dealer going you will probably need to spend real-world money. However, see the bottom of this post for a possible alternative strategy. My long term average spend is a few dollars a month, though, so we're not talking hundreds of dollars.

I try to wait until they offer a 40% off sale, which might be only every 6-8 weeks. Different people get different offers, even at the same time. There is often a sale connected with major U.S. holidays and also with in-game special events. These sales tend to last from 1 to 3 days, and they are available to everyone (though different players may see different offers). There are also flash sales which are individualized, come at random times, and last for 1 hour.

Note that sometimes it says 40% but if the sale is for tcash plus something else they are calculating some "price" for the bundle. So it might be for tcash plus a bunch of shovels, or some ingots, or a special decoration. Do the math yourself to see what the discount is for the tcash, and decide if it's worth it to you. Generally I look only at the price per greenie, ignoring the other things. The US-dollar value I personally put on shovels is exactly 0! I make my own ingots, so I also value ingots at US $0. Sometimes there will be a special decoration. If you like the decoration and want it and it's worth spending real-world money on to you, go for it! Just be aware of what you're getting in return.

I recommend taking a screenshot of the offer, and of your tcash balance before hand. That way if there is a problem you have evidence to send to technical support. One time the bundle that they gave me was not what was advertised. I wound up dropping the matter because it wasn't worth my time to chase down $2. But without screenshots it will be much more difficult to pursue if you want to.

2. Hire the dealer
Once you hire the dealer you are able to make 1 request from him per hour. The critical thing to know about hiring the dealer is that once his time runs out, you can hire him again for a 20% discount. You have a short window to do so (maybe an hour? not sure), starting when you first open the game after his time runs out.

So, to get started, hire him for 1 day only. Then a day later you can hire him for 10 days at only 72 tcash. After that you will hire him every 10 days at 72 tcash. If you ever miss the window to get him at 20% off then start again with a 1-day contract. Never pay 90 tcash for 10 days.

3. Buy ore from the dealer
The vast majority of the time I use the dealer to buy ore. Rarely I will buy things I need for planes. There are a handful of items that I feel take too long to manufacture myself, that I will buy from him as well. These include jelly fruit slices and banana bread for feeding to ducks. If the dealer is being too stingy with ore then sometimes I will give up and buy one of these other things instead.

When you request an item, there is some randomness to how many you can get. I try to hold out for 12 or 13 pieces of copper or silver ore. If he only offers 8-11 pieces then I ask for something else. Sometimes if he stays stingy I go away for a few minutes and do something else in the game (like fill a train cart, or harvest some fields). Then I come back and try again. For gold and platinum ore he seems to offer always 8 or 9. So I try to get 9. If he repeatedly is only offering 8 gold/platinum and 10 copper/silver after I make repeated requests I usually give up and ask for something else like picks (13-15 is good), clay, or jelly fruit slices.

I try to check in on the dealer every hour when I am awake and on wifi.

4. Smelt ore
This one doesn't take much explanation. Eventually you will be able to buy 3 foundries. If you only have 1 or 2 foundries then you will be able to buy enough ore from the dealer to keep them going. With 3 foundries you can smelt bronze ingots faster than you can buy the ore (bronze takes 15 ingots per hour to make, versus 12-13 per hour you can get from the dealer). So your copper ore stockpile will slowly deplete if you are making, say, 30 bronze ingots for a single upgrade. However there will be some other time that you have to make a dozen gold ingots for something else, and at those times you can replenish your copper stockpile. You can also replenish ore by mining, but the vast majority of my ore comes from the dealer, not the mine.

When I go to bed or if I know I'll be offline for hours (when travelling) I will make gold or platinum ingots. Otherwise I make whatever I need for the next upgrade I'm working on.

5. Upgrade
This is what it's all about. I recommend upgrading certain key factories first. These are the factories that make ingredients that other factories need. Sugar and dairy are the most critical ones to speed up. I recommend getting those to 50% speed-up (level 27) early. Textile, bakery, and feed mill are also good ones to work on early, but you may prefer to speed up trains instead.

After the critical-path factories are sped up it's your choice what you wish to work on. Many players prioritize speeding up trains because they bring building supplies and mining tools. For factories pay attention to where your bottlenecks are occuring in production, and address those. When upgrading factories always take the speed-up option if it's available, then the extra shelf option if it's available. Otherwise it's your choice whether to increase XP or money. Early on you may want XP. In the level 50-80 range I started to feel like leveling up was more of a curse, because it constantly increases the variety of factory goods you're on the hook for with planes and trains. Once you've unlocked all the factories (around level 80) further leveling up does not change gameplay. In retrospect I might have preferred more money and less XP.

For serious regatta play it's nice to have all trains and islands sped up to 50%. Islands especially take a very long time to upgrade (huge numbers of ingots). However, once you bite the bullet and do it, it's done forever. I focused first on key factories that feed other factories, some trains, then I got a bunch of factories to level 15 (for an achievement), and then I worked on islands and finishing off trains. Only after I had islands fully sped up did I go back to factories. First I worked on speeding my remaining factories up by 40% (level 21), now I'm going back to take them all to 50% (level 27). Once I get all my factories to level 27 I will probably go back and max out the island product percentages. I personally do not bother upgrading factories past 27.

I have been executing this strategy for about a year now. I have my trains and islands all at 50%. Most of my factories are at level 27, but there are still a handful left to finish. I might be done with the factories in another month or so. Then I will upgrade the islands further (increasing rare good %). At that point I expect to use ingots primarily to bring treasure chests from the islands.

Over the long term I've sourced 89% of the ore for the ingots I make from the dealer, with only 11% coming from the mine. I've made 10,800 ingots total. You also sometimes get ingots from house of luck, regatta prizes, etc. so I've dumped over 11,000 ingots into upgrades.

Further notes
The mint
: Useless, in my opinion. It lets you turn ingots into coins. I need ingots for upgrading, and would never trade them in for coins.

If you don't want to spend money: There is a strategy that might work if you don't want to or can't afford to spend real money to buy t-cash. Once you unlock the jewelry store the gangster NPC will start offering to buy jewelry from you in exchange for t-cash. If you divert some of your ore into making jewelry you might be able to earn enough t-cash from him to keep the dealer on retainer (in addition to t-cash you get from other sources such as house of luck or regatta prizes). You can also request jewelry from the dealer, getting up to 3 items at a time. This might be more efficient than making the jewelry yourself. As long as you use less than 100% of your dealer requests to get material to trade to the gangster for t-cash you will come out ahead. I haven't tried this strategy so I don't know how well it works.

Older jewelry store strategy: There was an earlier stategy involving buying jewelry from the dealer to sell to the gangster. This highly effective strategy was nerfed by the developers around October 2016. I just mention it in case you run across older strategy discussions online. You used to be able to get 8 or 9 pieces of jewelry from the dealer at a time, but now the max is 3.

A big thank you from me as well. I'll keep your hints in mind and I'm sure they'll help me advancing better.
I just wish they would find a way to let android and windows games connect so that we could play together. :)
