I don't know if G! plans on changing this icon, but as of now it shows up as a QL when you're launching. I added one to a launch I already joined that had 1QL. The extra 15% took 20 minutes off, bringing it down to just under 2 hours.
Until they address this issue, I'm thinking of putting something on my name to make other players aware that I don't have to actual QL.

I’ve played the game for almost two years now and I have zero clue what you guys are referring to. I’ve done pretty well for myself but there are still nuances of the game I’m still learning. I’m level 68.

Test Launch is a bonus that makes launches complete faster, but not as good as a QL. The Riding the Comet event this time provides a building, "Space Research Institute", that gives the bonus.

So, with 1 normal QL plus 5 Test Launch bonus, the total flight time is 1 hour and 3 minutes. Not bad. We are still putting "NoQL" on our name so people don't get confused.
Also, the QL and the Test Launch are "stackable". We have one game running both QL and Test Launch and 5 games running Test Launch; which brings the flight time down to 54 minutes.
In the future I shall refer to the Test Launch as "TL"

Test Launch Bonus Time Chart
(# of mins in 24 hrs) - (15%) = (mins remaining)

1 TL: 1440 - 216 mins = 1224 mins (20.4 hrs)
2 TL: 1224 - 183.6 = 1040.4 (17.34 hrs)
3 TL: 1040.4 - 156.06 = 884.34 (14.74 hrs)
4 TL: 884.34 - 132.65 = 751.69 (12.53 hrs)
5 TL: 751.69 - 112.76 = 638.93 (10.65 hrs)
6 TL: 638.93 - 95.84 = 543.09 (9.05 hrs)
7 TL: 543.09 - 81.46 = 461.63 (7.69 hrs)

1 QL: 1440 - 1296 (90%) = 144 mins (2.4 hrs)
1 QL+1TL: 144 - 21.6 = 122.4 (2.04 hrs)
1 QL+2TL: 122.4 - 18.36 = 104.04 (1.73hrs)
1 QL+3TL: 104.04 - 15.60 = 88.43 (1.47 hrs)
1 QL+4TL: 88.43 - 13.27 = 75.17 (1.25 hrs)
1 QL+5TL: 75.17 - 11.275 = 63.89 (1.06 hrs)
1 QL+6TL: 63.89 - 9.58 = 54.31 (0.91 hrs)

* these figures have all been rounded off, but the calculations were done using the full figures. Hence, some of these results may appear slightly inaccurate.

It's unfortunate GI didn't make the building randomly drop one of the new "test" launch bonuses instead of just the 15%.

Think there were\are 4-5 new ones with different percentages that showed in the shop\store during event? 🤔

I am only activating them after launch so as not to mislead anyone. It’s then just a pleasant addition to the launch.
I see a lot of people doing that (I do it myself as well). It works really well like that. And like you said: it's a pleasant surprise :) (especially when 3 people activate it on the same launch: 14 rather than 24 hours).
