Unfortunately you cannot put broken plane in reserve hangar. Broken planes can be only discard or repair. Use the jet you can fly and fly it to the first destination for jets (first destination have item needed for repair hangar - second option is to check signatures of your neighbors from forum...

So bottom line is - always speed up planes with lower amount of needed fuel (it will either take you correct amount or smaller amount) :)

What I said is that within last year many players experienced some game troubles (game resets) and their game was restored with new code - maybe those with old codes are affected by bug

In general - don't worry about quests - they are going much faster then you can complete them - if you see exclamation mark over it press it just to see what is required. You'll get them all at one point. Regarding not receiving reward for specific quest - if you can confirm 100% that you did...

you can check in flight in alliance tabs exactly what is needed for each flight. Lower level planes don't require anything, higher yes.
