Do I have to be in an alliance? Can I play the game without one, or having one of my own? I just don't see the point anymore
Hi Kiwi - you don't have to be in alliance. Being in one gains you the extra missions and related destinations, collections and the buildings and bonus wins that go with them. You will be able to do those in your own alliance, but without hitting passenger numbers won't get the alliance maps each week. Alliances in theory give you extra comararderie, howeverI have found that exists as much if not more just by being in this forum.Do I have to be in an alliance? I must be the only player in the game that doesn't have a need for mapsI totally agree with Ralphy about game play. I played in my own alliance for a long time and learned, that if i had joined an active Alliance earlier, I would have been acquiring Alliance destination maps much quicker, so that when I was ready to fly I would have had a lot of maps to choose from. So, in short, depending on your game play strategy, it wouldn't hurt to join an active Alliance and acquire maps so when you're ready to fly to Alliance destinations you'll have plenty of destination choices. (I hope this is clear, it's very late.) Let me know if you have questions.
After thought, then g'nite. You can accumulate maps until you are really ready to jump on those flights. Kinda like putting them in the bank and let then grow until you're ready to fly. I have been thinking about this.Do I have to be in an alliance? Can I play the game without one, or having one of my own? I just don't see the point anymore
Wise words.I have been thinking about this.
People have already said the benefits: maps, rewards, camaraderie (including shared knowledge, reliable gifting partners, and launching with communication)
The only downside I have identified is if you start to feel pressure to meet alliance requirements (e.g., tasks or pax) that makes it no longer fun to play the game. This is one of the reasons why we have 4 alliances in our group with different requirements. I was leading the top-50 alliance with a minimum 100K pax, but waiting for weekly alliance destinations made that a bit stressful. So I switched to the top-100 alliance because this game should not be stressful.
