Dear All

I'm curious and would be very interested to know roughly how much 'real money' people have spent playing Airport City. In the 12 months I've been playing the game I have successfully managed not to spend a single penny. This has been my game plan since first downloading the game. I understood, from the very outset, the long term addictive quality of the game and, depending on the type of person and/or game player, also a money grabber (I do understand there is no such thing as a free lunch or a free game download).

When I compare the size of my Airport City (level 55), with those of my neighbors, mine is by far the smallest, at roughly 1/4 to 1/3 of the size. This I do not mind, I knew that would be the case because of my non spending policy. A certain amount of money must have been spent by my neighbours to achieve this (I've not forgotten about the green notes and the 50% discount).

If your happy to share this information I would be interested to know.

I look forward to hearing from you in due course.

Regards

Hi @Captain WH Rollins

I have spend €.25 in the game. I bought greenies in discount and used it for land (when you can buy it against half the price) and some circus. More land gives you the oppurtunity to grow faster...I didn't control myself :p.

I also played the first 10 months without spending money..Use your greenies not for stuff..asked things to your neighbours. I heared you say that next land costed 800K..if you use the weekend code (3 greenies)..you can buy land every 3 or 4 weeks (when it is in discount).

Everybody play at his own method. But i think that spending money is not necessary..just a lot of patience ;)

Hello PeterNL

It's the struggle that really counts in life, anything that comes easy, is not really worth it. The personal satisfaction that you experience when you have achieved your objective.

As for the game itself, a great deal of patience with long term objectives and short term daily goals has been the key. The vast amount of information, held within this forum, has been extremely useful, and the help and support I've received since signing-up a few days ago.

I completely agree with you. I play for 2 years now and did not spent a penny. The airport grows slowely and you must have a lot of patience. With the weekly offer of 4 greens given after downloading a game of GI they stopped a year ago. With that offer it was more convenient. I noticed that the present possibility to download a game of GI did not bring you a green. Hope they will return to the past situation. Or did I miss something?

I have spent about $100 US in the three plus years I have been playing.
I've spent a lot of money on console games (X-Box, Nintendo, PlayStation) over the years that I played once or twice then stopped. (I sold them "used" at GameStop so it wasn't all wasted.)
I think "freemium" games like Airport City are terrific. I played for a while without spending any real money, then bought some bank notes during a three-for-one sale. I've continued to do so over the years because I think GI deserves to be reimbursed for their efforts.
Cheers,
Tom
