Not everyone reads "New Posts" or browses the forum home page, so when a new feature like this is released, the only way to get the attention of everyone is via a message like that. As said, always 100% dismisable - It's just a quick way of reaching out to everyone.

Yes, I do understand the reasoning, and it does make sense to do so. I just could not see the cross, in the top right corner of the screen. Many thanks Dave, the members forum looks just great, so much work has gone into it, over the years.
