I've created a table with all of the event gifts and their shortcuts. Some of the translations were done thanks to @Cayo (German), @Paul_ASD (Dutch), @Pikipi (Spanish), @Iron Eagle (Russian), and @flyhores (Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese). I did the rest using Google Translate.

Paula, don't bother about Portuguese, it's not available on game anymore. Better to delete the whole column.
Also, don't rely on google translator. In my opinion, if we can't get a member to translate it, it's better to leave that column void. At least one of the PT translations, although technically correct, is completely out of context (i couldn't help a laugh on that one)

This is the game event document that I edited, with Chinese simplified and Chinese traditional added at the end of Spanish, and some pictures of active items,
among which I am not sure about three Chinese translations, because I can't remember them, so I will correct them later.
Failed to upload the document. Can you give me an email address where I can send the spreadsheet file?

While I loved the idea of a language decode table for flight/repair/other commonly used items, the concept was driven by players that use LOTE who were regularly seeing commonly used English abbreviations and wondering they meant. The beauty and simplicity of that was that there was very little work required to actually have to nail down abbreviations for the English words, because most people were already efficiently using a versions that had naturally developed on their own. People learned by attrition from getting incorrect items (because the abbreviation could be confused for something different) so there wasn’t much need to try and reinvent the wheel. There were the odd couple like FltCat and FClyst or Pills and Props (I’m not even sure that’s what is in the table) that needed special attention since FC and SP didn’t work. But there weren’t many as problematic as those few.

The table also focused on the most commonly used items that get seen all the time and are instantly recognised. The table was a tool predominantly created by, and for, forum users and the odd player that was directed to the site from other LOTE players from their gaming social groups. Most forum people that have been playing for awhile, are aware that requesting certain gifts in your game name is simply a waste of time - particularly the 4 items needed to upgrade every single level of the Big 3 buildings and similarly things like launch pads and factories. The vast majority of those items can only be sent by a tiny % of the playing group, so far better being sourced directly in the forum threads established for that purpose. Eg if I was looking for an item to upgrade my tower to level 10 and needed a Laser Rangefinder, the only players that could help would also need to be at the same level and even then there is only a 25% chance that they’d have that item. I could put LasRF or whatever is in the table, into my game name but it is a massive waste of space since most can’t send it, many are clueless as to what it might mean and wouldn’t bother having to find the table and search for it and all the while you’ve taken up space that could be better used to ask for more appropriate items. I can get my items 10x faster using the Tower thread in the trading section.

While I commend the intent and effort to abbreviate every single giftsble item in the game, the sheer number of words results In needing to be very creative to avoid confusion and if everyone used them, we’d all have to have a wiki page open in a tab so that we could constantly reference it! Doing it with event items that only get used for 2 weeks a year just increases the number of potential word clashes 🥴. As the list has been put together by a handful of people at the most, most event items haven’t had the luxury of being used so regularly over a long period of time that they’ve evolved into the ideal solution. Some could be simpler and many don’t jump out at me reminding me that I’d seen them used before. Most events have one or two items at most and due to the limited time they’re available and the high demand for them at the time, People have used quite a variety of shortcuts but it’s very rare that anyone gets confused in this situation because it‘s quite obvious that these unique abbreviations are event related. A wiki reference is nice, if you can be bothered looking, but there’s rarely the need to do so.

A good database is awesome, but the bigger it gets, the less user friendly it becomes and can be off putting if becomes a chore to have to work through a mountain of links and pages which can appear to get more complicated and cluttered the bigger it becomes. Some “nice to have” ideas can actually become counter productive to the idea of having an easy, simple to use guide when things that aren’t necessarily as useful as they might appear to be, are added simply because they can be. Translations of common abbreviations is a fantastic idea! Abbreviations for every single item in the game? Not quite as much.

I’m not trying to burst anyone’s bubble here - indeed, kudos to those that commit the time and effort to do these things. I’m curious to see if it actually gets used by the masses. 😉👍🏻

All great points. For those that want to use it, having a database somewhere (maybe a spreadsheet in google docs) might be the way to go. But maintaining that amount of information in a forum post isn't easy or easy to use
