These updates are all geared toward new players and not to make the game better for everyone!! This event with new destinations is great for everyone, however making it more than 1 festive ribbon needed for bigger planes, is just ridiculous for a event that is only 11 days once a year. in past it was hard enough to get 1 flight event item necessory to get all types of planes in the air, The opportunity fair is so ridiculous trying to get new players to spend money for low level bonuses, At least it should be made random so there is a chance to get worthwile stuff froom this fair, I wont be bothering with it!.

I have big OBJECTION to your claim!!!
This Event hard for newbie too, especially that fair ticket task 2, i use some bonus and still stuck with 0 from spamming yellowstone destination.
So rather than saying this for newbie it actually hard for newbie and only geared toward spending player to spend more.

its 100 percent geared to new players. trying to get you to play for low level rewards from fair. I did not say it was easy or hard. I just said the low level rewards bonuses from the fair dont make it worth it for older players

As a 1200 Star member, I agree with this sentiment. Hard or not, it's just not fun. Way too many flights needed to get ribbons. I'm using falcons to accumulate them, but I already have 3 stars for Anchorage and MPLS. 600 flights to 4 stars, plus having to go Mog again and again to get earplugs. Big yawn...

I will agree with Gregb41405 though - it's far less frustrating to lower star members as at least going to standard destinations helps your star count faster than higher level players.

I'm just silently praying now, don't let my confidence collapse after more than 8 years

To obtain the Festive Ribbons in order to fly planes to complete tasks has decimated a number of my items in the warehouse, like landing lamps and earplugs, and it is not the fun that I am used to in previous events.
I think that I will be more selective in what events I participate in moving forward.

I am neither a long time player or a newbie, but I really like this event. It's got new destinations, ok it will take a long time to get the stars but why rush? The rewards are really great too, I think this is one of the most rewarding events i participated in, very much better and much more fun than the boring great-game- and back-to-school events.

I agree, this event used to be boring but is now an intriguing challenge, similar to the Romantic Quests. As with those quests, there are ways to progress substantially, but it requires strategy (which is the very classification of this game type) and knowledge of how the game behaves. I look forward to contemplating this quest and moving ahead with it better in future years with a formulated plan. I hope GI put as much thought into the other mundane quests.

However the fair is rather pointless with minimal rewards.

For those finding it hard to obtain ribbons - try your larger planes and the drop rate will improve a lot; use drop bonuses and its even better of course.
