How do people complete tasks such as 343 flights to an alliance destination? It seems like a herculean task, given the 100 item limit. It already seems hard without the item needed for flight...and that's just one task!
One of my alliance members has a task to finish 343 flights to Yerevan - 343 landing lamps.

Not impossible. Lots of Owl or TP planes. Start with 100 in warehouse and a good collection waiting in the in box. Fly as many as you can, moving from waiting collection into warehouse as you go. When waiting box is empty start flying some to Turkish Coast. 343 is only 50 per day. 10 planes done quite quick.
