I have come to enjoy doing these types of posts but forgot for the Down the Rabbit Hole event. So here it is. The real life buildings from this event

The State University is based on the central portion of the main building of Moscow State University. Designed by Lev Rudnev, It is one of the Seven Sisters - one of 7 skyscrapers building between 1947 and 1953 in the Stalinist architectural style. The Moscow State University is the tallest of the seven. The central portion is 240 meters (790 feet) tall.

The central library took us a while to identify. It is based on the Parkway Central Library in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It is the largest and the only research library of the 54 branches of the Free Library system. It was designed by Horace Trumbauer and opened in 1927.

For the foodies out there (thinking @Captain WH Rollins on this one), renovations completed in June 2014 added a Culinary Literacy Center to the 4th floor. The center contains a commercial-grade kitchen which is used as a classroom and public education dining space.

It also contains

• one of the largest collections of children's literature in the country, with volumes dating back to 1836
• the rare books department which features first editions of Charles Dickens along with his personal letters and his stuffed raven along with works from Beatrix Potter, Edgar Allan Poe and many others
• a map collection with over 130,000 maps from around the world - both current and historic.

The final building from the event that can be found in the real world (now) is the Neutrino Observatory.

When G! added the building, it was still only a concept design by Ennead Architects that won an architecture competition for the Shanghai Astronomy Museum. The architect's page for this building is worth a visit. It has lots of information on the inspiration for the building, and details on the design. What's the point of universities now? It also seems like we need a better way of getting passes to get lo level 40.
