This has been informative! I didn't know of the 576 rule, but then I've only been part of one QL party, quite some time ago.
My rule when joining someone else's launch and there was a lot of points to go with a really short amount of time left is to try to make the launch happen, because a bit of swag/xp/coins is better than none by wasting an entire launch. But I try for the owner to get an opportunity to put in as much as they can.
