Not sure on your specific question but if you are rooted you can use titanium backup, I have it set to back up daily and upload to Dropbox. Possibly overkill but it just does it while I'm asleep.

I use golden dice daily/every other day and quite often use a sky captain but haven't noticed increased drop rates with it. Golden dice all the way for that and time your map destinations around it.
