You're 2 ahead of me on town hall - I'm at level 5. Upgrade to level 6 is my next move. Guess I will be updated my signature soon for whatever the townhall needs. (Thank you wiki!) But you're right - level 8 town hall is definitely weird looking! Just finished my 400,000 for MCC3, and...

The big buildings do take up a lot of space! I'm halfway to the Grand Hotel, and have saved the 3x3 for that one. Maybe I'll actually get it someday!
