Have you tried the long click? With a mouse, it is a long left click. With touch screens, it is a long hold on the building. Is this not working?

You just need Level 2 to get coins and sometimes greenies from cars.

It happens seldomly. Sometimes many close together in time, sometimes not. Most times you can't even see them fly out of the cars, so keep an eye on your greenie total.
