Being just half way does not ensure 1st, unfortunately. The game allows players to add more than necessary so to ensure first you would have had to be at 1181/2000 That is half way plus half of a PEB+1, always add 181 to the half way point and you are good.

Yes I have added quite a bit to the wiki. I do not generally have to write anything perse just copy the info and descriptions within the game. I think you are probably confusing the return button that appears when you collect a gift from a neighbor. There is no way in game to ask for a specific gift except to change your name and add the gift in the name. You being on ios can not do that currently but soon an update is coming that will...
