Go to Google Play and get the latest update, from yesterday I believe. You need to manually update unlike the update that Madelen Airborn requests that you do. It fixes the server bug so you can visit your old neighbours and continues the Voyage, Voyage event.

I think there is a reduced chance from my observation but if the flight is 50% or over completed I do notice items drop.

I seem to get items from 2-3 flights and often multiple drops.....touching as much wood as I can. I have 2 Jets, lagging in the collection stakes, 3 Deltas and 3 Powerful Deltas, leading the race. I will keep going, I hardly accelerate the jets, maybe 2 a day but I doubt I will get the 9 stars...
