Well, you do need to do Excavation flights first, then Adventure flights to collect the Large Bronze Chests, and then finally the Golden Chests (along with Sky Captain).

Yes, excavations is the best way to get Golden chests. But taking part in QL Red launches is also a great way to earns some silvers.
