Can anyone else confirm that giftshops will keep dropping for your neighbors even after you've hit "complete" the quest?

I am having trouble with losing progress in my game. I think I've read that the safeguard is to visit a neighbor before exiting the game? Does anyone know if this works?

Earlier posts (see @greensmith) suggest that when you close out your quest, your neighbors won't be able to collect from your shops, but I think that players will have more luck finishing that part of the quest if they can get gift shops into their own cities. So maybe give it a couple days?

I am getting pretty good drop rates from my own shops (every 15 minutes), less so from visiting neighbors' (once a day).

Fly to Seattle, and you might get a 3D printer, but no Ben Franklin?? Also, the gift shops are the little ones with the red heart, NOT the unique gift shop that you can buy from the store, yes?

So sorry this is happening to you, Robby! But there are some good things going on here: They are being nice to you, probably because they know you by now (and certainly you urging for a pay increase for them can't hurt.) If they've restored your game an unheard of (by me) eleven times...
