Windows Abandoned push truck causes perma-waits

Since the Cinemania update, my push trucks are randomly getting abandoned on the tarmac. That means that the stand serviced by that truck can not leave the stand. Strangely, toggling away from the game, waiting 5 seconds or more, then toggling back causes the plane to disappear (take off behind the scenes).

Is anyone else seeing this?

Why in the world does that work? Thanks for the tip, I would never have figured that out!
