Nope. Those scores are a result of the latest 8.40.02 update. Support has fixed the error but has chosen not to change the scores for those that "lucked out". There is an update to the update. Google play has it now for Android 8.40.03.

New update 8.40.03 is available on Google Play. Support responded that 8.40.03 fixes bugs found and that Level is 85, adds new territory, and airport building expansions.

Wow, this 8.40.02 update is crazy. One of my android games updated, the other has not yet updated and is still running 8.39.04. The new update was running fine, but then I noticed that my event progress went from around 18,000+ to 312,296 in minutes. So, guess what? I'm in first place. 😂...

I don't think it carries over. The daily timer is not set to a fixed time. It resets when you collect, like the Alien Legacy, for example. So, it seems as if you have to collect as soon as possible, if you want to keep it on a regular schedule. I like the way you think, though. That would...
