I think I read a comment somewhere in the forum mentioning that the auto collectors will collect coins and/or passengers, but not the items they drop. You might want to verify with some of the folks who are using the autocollectors before you spend the tokens. Hoping I'm totally wrong here.:)

Certainly wishful thinking, but here in the U.S., banks will not only reverse the charges to get their money back, they may file charges against the customer if the money is not returned.

Hmmm - how about an inexpensive android tablet and have the game transferred? Of course, it's a pain to get all your neighbors back and back in the alliance, but it would be a way to continue playing without a lot of $$ invested.
