This is my first launch not sure the protocol. I’ve added more points. Is it best to finish as soon as I can or should I wait for more people?

Added, and sent a robot tester. I have a launch started, it's my first, and I've put 120 into it so far. Waiting to see what will happen. I could finish on my own but it would use a LOT of resources. I should be able to do blue as well.

How do they work? Sometimes it seems I get a lot. Sometimes hardly any. Sometimes they seem separated between being available for things like event items but not for upgrading buildings, and other times the opposite. Are there a specific amount one should get in a particular time period...

Yes, that is what I did too, I have the sparrow and the crossbill (needs repair though).

I did the same and 3 starred all sparrow flights and was continuing on with crossbill flights until it broke down and didn't want to spend the 70k to upgrade the repair H bldg. I just use the sparrow to complete daily tasks where I need to speed up flights quickly.
