I think sky captain is better used in conjunction with other bonuses. I used it once a while back and did not notice much except for the increased exp/coins. As stated spy glass is helpful in this event I have used it twice without hurrying planes just timed it nicely. I only need 2 items in 2...

It is listed under that tab as it is a building required for flights. All buildings that produce or are needed for flights are listed there. It also does not produce coins as all commercial buildings do. It is an odd way to categorize but does make a bit of sense as it is a needed building like...
