Had saved up horseshoes. Today I had 14 items drop from 80 horseshoes which seems very reasonable. It also helps that 7 of the 14 items were useful as I had started the collection last year. I just need one more Green Hat and the three collections are completed. Drops from the Ireland...

Not a completely scientific experiment, nor anywhere near enough flights to make a real conclusion ... but since the last quest finished I have been flying to the excavations destinations such as Mesoamerica, Ancient Rome, Stonehenge, Ancient World etc..... From 64 flights without a Dice - 9...

@KerryJS No problem, I have it covered. 50 points to go with 1hr 44m left on the clock. I can find these points if no one else is able to join in for a very inexpensive 3rd position.

Check Colosseum too ... looks like you can upgrade that one ajso, although seems to be 222 greenies for an additional slot. Only noticed it this morning after the latest update. Perhaps other buildings too?

Yes they do and after last year's event ended they dropped standard passengers at the same rate as romantic ones (i.e. better than standard buildings) but I believe this was not the case in the previous year.

I am sure it is random (or at least as random as coding allows) but this is what I found today: Drop rate for pruning shears from friend visits 36% (22 from 60) but possible skewed up a bit as I did get one max of 5 from a single visit (I never saw that before in any quest) But then drop rate...
