I think you have to update the game via the Windows Store on your phone first before you get the new event.

Besides the coins and the benefits for neighbours there are 2 more positive things. For once they can be placed both on the city side and also on the airport side. And the most important thing they don't count towards your population limit like all the other coin producing buildings.

It's a new event for the new big plane. It popped up for me once I reached level 41 two days ago. But since at least one of the 3 destinations is not available before level 45 it's pretty much jsut an exclusive event for the older members with a high level and enough money to buy the new...

I reached level 40 last night. But maybe it's level 41 since with level 41 you can send out the new items. Anyway it sounds pretty hard to get anyway. Hopefully there will be a better event for all soon.
