Backup game progress on Android

Hey everyone,
I've been playing this game on my Android phone for about 10 months and I'm super into it.
I was wondering if anyone knows how to back up my game progress. I'm worried about losing everything if something happens to my phone (like if it breaks or gets stolen).
Any tips or advice would be awesome!
P.S. Just to be clear, I'm not looking for the "link progress" feature for transferring my game. I'm hoping for a way to have a backup just in case.

So now I've installed Google play games app, inside I've found Airport city transport manager.
So now i have 2 apps on my mobile. The last one is linked to my Google play account.
I noticed that the original one I had had no ads, and the latest one I installed has long ads.

Is this o.k?
Which one is correct to use?
Am I even on the right track to achieve what I originally asked for or is there another way?
