In a couple of weeks I have:-

Fruit Flies 11
Wheat 20
Lab Rat 15
but
Frog 5 and
Blue Green algae 0

This flying very regularly to Cape Canaveral, Baikonur, North and South Laboratories as well as visiting only neighbours with space items and collecting maximum daily from them

Something wrong with the law of averages here I feel!!

It seems to be a common occurrence in this game with the collections, there always seems to be 1 item that drops fewer than the rest, different games have different items that appear to be harder to get. For me in your example, it's usually the Wheat, although sometimes it can be one of the other for a small amount of time then returns to the Wheat. It only appears noticeable when you have collected loads of the collection, as the more common items seem to add up to the point you are always missing one.

For that collection I am at, 5 / 5 / 0 / 10 / 5 while for Dark Side of the Moon collection I am at 29 / 20 / 63 / 60 / 0

I think it's random to each user with one being a bit harder.

Not really. All chances are equal for the space collections (and most other collections, as well) — Airport City is not a casino-type game whose only purpose is to lure you into more "dice rolls". However, there's this thing with probability: if you have a million tries to complete a collection, you'll roughly have 200,000 of each collectible item, but the lower number of tries goes, the more 'not really random' and 'tampered with' it might feel. Whenever you get all five needed items, you consider it the 'normal' situation and simply don't notice it, however each 'irregular' situation instantly catches your attention.

I did physics at university so have a fair idea about probability :D I've also played this game a hell of a lot. It could simply be a symptom of a supposed random number generator in the code I guess. Certainly different games find it harder for different items and that's been repeated in collections, quests etc for years by many on here.

Anyway I'm not bothered about it as it becomes negligible the more you play, far more important is when are we going to Mars! ;)

@Blue Aero That collection is harder to get the Kick Scooter as it only comes from 2 types of guest planes, the rest come from 3 (Butterfly net) and all types of guest planes so the odds are stacked against getting Kick Scooters due to the chances of a guest planes being a prop/turbo prop.

It would be interesting for comparison if we all chose 1 collection, and see the different items that are harder to get. Before my game crashed I found it harder to get Smart Glasses, while this game the First Aid is the harder to get

Would be interesting if others could post their results in that collection. ( I choose this one as it comes from landing turbo-prop guest planes and any level player should be able to compare)

It still should not be as lopsided as it is. I land a LOT of guest airplanes (I have 1,840 air magetometers to prove it) and don't turn any away when I'm actively playing - over 400 to 1 is not random it isn't even pseudo random.

I will concede, 413 is quite a high/freak number based on the odds. It would be nice if all items were available from all guest planes *hint* *hint*

Then there would be fewer coughing up 800,000 coins to land falcons and get trees. It seems drops have been reduced the past month both from guest planes and my own. Sending 20 planes to Paris to get fuel hoses (which are suppose to drop OFTEN) and only getting two??? Used to get OFTEN items 90% of the time but not now. Not as fun landing planes as it used to be.

First aid kit for me too although this is in the realm of (pseudo)random

It is NOT 400 to 1
You are forgetting the gazillion of collections you've already completed. So it's more like 1400 to 1001.
(OK 1000 is not reasonable number, but only you can estimate how many collections have you redeemed already)

Your smart and smarter really shows 78-92-82-102-84 which is about as fair as random ever gets.

BTW, for me the smart and smarter is 64-55-61-52-62, making the watch the hardest item, with sneakers as close second. Funny that your hardest item is my easiest and the other way around too.
