Why is it when I have 1088 of the 2000 points needed to launch, does this game allow someone to come over the top of me and steal my launch? The developers could write code to eliminate hijacking launches. It's time!

That is part of the game, you take your chances with n open launch, you need at lease 55 % to prevent your launch from being taken over.

he must have used higher end item to give a bigger boast over your 50 %.

Two suggestions:
Put in 1/2 of total needed, plus 1/2 of PEB (160)
Lose your non-forum neighbors, and stick with friends from the forum. It may still happen, but at least you can contact them.

But I'm sorry that happened to you. It's very frustrating.
