As a player that is still in the growth stage (upgrading/building all critical buildings) my coins come at a premium. At the same time, I know that I can still expand using coins for the first 10 expansions, but the cost starts getting prohibitive there as well. With the current 50% off sale I am tempted to just use my Airport Cash to expand.

So I wanted to ask the higher level players, is it worth it to just spend the Airport Cash early to expand land rather than try to wait and save the coins?

You can always earn more coins through flights, shops and guest planes (space flights when you get higher level), but airport cash is a less common and far harder commodity to get in the early days without spending real money. Personally I would say try and maximise space, and plan which expansion (city or airside) and use coins until you can no longer use coins. That way, when it comes to expanding you may have a few Greens/Airport Cash in your bank.

Yeah, that's been my plan. It just takes so long to get coins that I've been wondering if it's really the way to go. I am saving for 100k expansion now and I'm only at 60k after a week+.

I guess I'll stay the course and keep saving.

The Airport City game has changed since it was introduced 4 years ago. Back then, there was no rocket launches, max level was only 35, and there was no Casino / Bank / Mint. So buying land with greenies is simply a short cut for those who has no time or patience to collect the coins.

However, with the introduction of the Red Launch Pad, I have come to the conclusion that the coins you save on Expansion 10 (800,000 coins) would be better served to be used to build the Red Launch Pad asap and upgrading the MCC 1,2,3.

100,000 or 200,000 coins for land is still ok for me.
400,000 / 600,00 is painful, but I cross the line at 800,000.

It simply takes up too much time to collect that amount of coins on a small plot of land, so better spend some of that greenies that you get weekly to buy Land Expansion 10. Once you build the Red Launch pad, you can generate more coins for other essential expansions (Control Tower Terminal etc).

I bought first few with coins (I think up to 20k gold), but then greens all the way as soon as there is land sale. There are too many traps designed to make you accidentally spend greens on some useless crap that I'm afraid I would lose them anyway - but get nothing useful in return.

Thanks for the feedback. I think I'll keep saving for now and try to pay for at least the next 2 expansions with coins before switching to greenies.

i am only on my 3rd expansion, but it costs 10 greens, or 30k coins. I am not making near enough to use coins anytime soon for an expansion, so I am kind of stuck as to what to do. Plus, i have one expansion on the city, and one on the airport. Which side should i do my next expansion on?

If you are fine with buying greens from the store for your continued gaming then by all means go ahead and use greens for expansions but if you will not pay real money for greens then save them and use gold as long as you possibly can.
As you can see in the link above by @Agent_L Once you get past expansion 10 you have no choice anymore and they are greens only so you will need all the greens you can get.

About what side to expand thats a tough one as it depends on what you run out of first pretty much. Can you fit all hangars you can build? If not airport side might be good. On the other hand do you have enough passenger buildings to fill your planes? If not I would go with city side.

valid points. As for my hangars, yes i can fit all my hangars due to right now my control tower only allows me 3. On the city side, i have 2 smart houses, and a house with pool, so I can just barely get enough passengers for my flights right now. One my flight school opens and I can get jets, that won't be enough, however, i am going to hold off on buying a jet, till I can expand. Sounds like probably, i will expand city first for more commercial buildings to make more profit.

Thank you all for the input. I feel really behind the curve being level 16 and only having stuff upgraded to level 2. lol

You need to get cashflow first. 30k is just few days of money made out of neighbor Planetariums.
If you don't have many neighbors with 5 Planetariums, then focus on getting them. There is nothing more important, you can sell all planes and buildings but you can never afford to not visit those Planetariums daily.
