None of the above....
I try to anticipate on what GI could do in the future.... for instance:
- I try to save tokens (with different goals in the games (jpjpjp999 hoping for a bank, jpjpjp2 for.... don't know, the future))
- I try to have some spare coins for future quests, new buildings. I don't mean level up of terminal or tower, but a new space quest where a lot of coins is needed (new space mission with a new launch pad of *oo.000 coins)

The sidequests can help, if you only do space flights, the rest of the game will go slower.... Find your own goal and think how you want to reach it....

What is important within the game for you?

I agree @flip123.... since I play totally free, i have to be more reserved and plan ahead... on my very first city, I bought airport cash and did not spend it wisely.... Total failure but now that I play the free way, the game is alot better... since GI started the space race theme, I have been stuck on that.... I have not touched any of the map flights yet... I purchase maps from dukes store with coins.... until I am done with the space race, I will keep buying maps here and there, so when I start using my maps, I have them.... now that I am at level 50 and about 2 million coins and 56 airport cash, I will wait until February to purchase airport cash on the bonus buy.... I figure since GI is always going to have some new update from time to time, I am in no rush to try to finish... I have had this city now for 2 years and I finally finished my first event:) I am still going on my other city with the Christmas event... I have enough to finish but I will cash it in on the last day.... all I can say is just pick the path u want to go:) I hope this helps :) cheers!!!

There's not much on my side quest list, just building the new expensive buildings, three things, nearly done with passenger ones but need space for commercial. I work through flights and excavation destinations as I upgrade my fleet, do the map destinations when I have time otherwise three star the current fleet destinations. I always try and do a space launch of some sort daily and now if Robby is playing I jump on the reds and use my supplies up and earn lost of coin and it's fun. There really does reach a critical mass where everything starts to move quick, if you have any investments in real life you may get this idea. Start slow and steady and reap the rewards long term. Haha its only a game though.

@Dave , focus on launches. Essp Red. You will have all by the launches. Name it, Coins, Experiences, Fuel, Tokens, Greens ( buy with tokens when the offers come), etc etc. Just launches and with the right strategy, rest will be easy.

Cheers Robby.

Im currently on green - am I right in thinking you get blue and red by upgrading the mission control building?

The moment you activate the golden dice is the golden moment to fly too. I use it to fly and finish all the fuel in my warehouse to get QL using the maps from the blue launches. I don't really care about experiences, hearts and stars. Give no benefit at all. And I am not a good gifter, since I only send back what you send. But I will help if you ask me personal for the buildings items. But flight items and repair items I just send back. Since I have more than 2000 gifts to send back.

Do launches and get the first ranks of some launches. Build Alien Legacy, Space monuments and Space Gardens. Have friends with Pilots who have many training centers if you do Green and Blue. And Planetariums if you di red. Good luck @Dave .

@Dave,
To me, the main challenges of Airport City are:
1. Complete quests/collections and earn reward buildings
2. Launch green/blue/red rockets to earn maps, tokens and collectible items
3. Fly to all destinations to earn stars, coins, experience and reward items
4. Help neighbors achieve their goals
The measure of success in the game is different for many players. I'm a big believer in a balanced approach and have been successful with that.
I have 535 destination stars, which is all of the stars currently available for regular flights, launch flights, quest flights and map flights. I have every reward building. (I used to have ten each of most of the reward buildings but I deleted them when I ran out of space.) I have accomplished all side quests, including the most recent "buy our new, expensive residential and commercial buildings" quests. 17.9 million experience. 17.8 million coins. 90 Gold Tokens and 1,987 Silver Tokens. 1,440 Launch Ready chests not opened. My maximum population is 2,810. My maximum passengers are 2,140. Thanks to my Casinos and Banks I have 1,645 greenies. And in the two and a half years I have played, I've spent only about $50 in real money.
I don't mention this to brag, but to prove that a balanced approach works. The great thing about the game is that you can play it the way you want to. And you play against the game, not other players.
Cheers,
Tom

I have the same approach as Tom.
You just need patience, diligence, time (and mutually helpful neighbours) to succeed in the quests.

Of course, it is always beneficial to tag along on @Robby Kusuma 's QL to earns coins quickly.
My support game Bali2 earned the 3 of the 5 million coins required for Level 10 by doing just that.

And try not to finish quests asap: your gifts disappear (and you can no longer send quest items to neighbours) and quest tasks that otherwise earns you coins also disappear or drop rates decline significantly!

To me are:
1. Complete quests/collections and earn reward buildings
2. Launch red rockets to earn maps, tokens and collectible items
3. Fly to giant destinations to earn stars
4. Fly to map destinations
5. Help with gift

Priorities in my case:

1. Keep strategic reserves for all types of new events (minimum 4M coins, 30K fuel in barrels, 500 greenies, 2 QL, 10 PEBs, 5 family tickets and 10 alarm clocks)
2. Complete all quests/collections without stress and getting missing stars if relevant
3. Flying to all giant destinations to get missing stars inclusive map destinations
4. Trading fuel 20 daily and help others based on PM requests
5. To further improve stock I irregularly aim The outer limit collection to get QL bonuses and participating in red launches

When we will get a new area extension I will go for green launches to get 7 allien legacy statues.
