iOS Drop rates on Excavation flights

I am having a terrible time with drop rates with excavation flights. Yesterday I did 50 flights to machu pichu with dice bonus. I got zero drops from 50 flights.
Today I did 50 flights to Merida and got one drop.

I have already 3 starred these destinations and built a coliseum and a pyramid. Does this affect the drop rate? What can I do to get better drops?

I do not think so, I have made similar experience when flying to Eastern and South Europe as I wanted to max the stars for all the destinations. The drop rate was not effected by completion, or at least I did not recognized any difference. The trouble I had was that from 200 flights I got approx. 15 maps, but when I opened them, I had 9 for one destination, the random generator the GI is using is a bit weird.

For collection items, go with Golden Dice. Here's my guide on the subject:

Spy Glass
"This bonus increases the chance of quest item drop (both common and collectible) by 150% for 6 hours."
Quests are the icons that occasionally appear on the left side of the screen. Sometimes they are main quests, like the recent "The Great Game" and "Santa's Bad Day" quests. At times, there are subquests that appear that walk you step by step through the main quest. Using a Spy Glass bonus increases the chance of drops from flights that are part of these quests.
Dice
"This bonus doubles the chance of item drop from a flight (excluding quest and collectible items) for 6 hours."
If you fly to an Excavations destination trying to get a Map Chest drop, a Dice bonus will help. Or, if you fly to Iceland trying to get a Deicer drop, a Dice bonus will help.
Golden Dice
"Increases the chance of a collectible item drop from a flight (excluding quest items) by 150% for 6 hours."
Collectibles are items that appear in the Collections tab. I recently flew Giants to the five Tale of Bygone Years destinations -- Kyiv, Novgorod, Murom, Smolensk and Chernihiv -- to earn a Winter Palace. I used Golden Dice to increase my chances of drops of the items necessary to complete that collection. The bottom line was that when I used Golden Dice, I got an average of twice the drops that I got when I did not use Golden Dice.

When using Golden dice I get an average drop rate of almost 1 in 5 flights.

When I made first 10 flight to Mesoamerica . I got 2 map chest and from both I got map to machu Picchu

Then I started collecting maps to Mesoamerica..
When I got 100 maps then I started flying to it with Golden dice.
Back and forth. I got 28 map chests from it.
Luckily I got 3 off all maps destination that I required.

So my point is Use Golden dice not simple dice while flying to Excavation flights.

In the past (when I bothered to keep some records)

Flights without any dice: 14 drops from 110 flights (13%)
Fights with normal Dice: 26 drops from 96 flights (27%)

So the comment that Dice doubles your chance of a drop does seem accurate in my case anyway.

I never tried it with Golden Dice.

Drop rate is the same even you have 3 stars. Because adventure is other way to gain golden tokens.
