There is a huge difference between the quality/integrity of the game downloaded from the MS Store site and the other from the GI website directly. The MS Store version is notoriously buggy, and does not appear to receive any care from GI in terms of maintenance. Also it does not offer the same...

I had various problems at the start, others besides the one you have shown. Restarting the game has cleared them - eventually. There has also been a recent update, which may address these issues.

According to the Wiki, 'The Pioneer Trail' collection appears in both 'The Land of Opportunity' and 'Thanksgiving Day' events. My guest planes are currently dropping items for this collection right now.
