Hi everyone,

My name is Ivan, and I'm Airport City producer and game designer here at Moscow, Russia. I've been with the team since September 2011, but the game itself is in a continuous development since March 2011. We're a studio called Road 404 that is a subsidiary of Game Insight. Our other released games are Sunshine Bay (Dave, if you wanted Airport City about yachts - that's about as far as it gets! You won't believe it, but by now it has submarine missions instead of space missions, too), Sky Adventures (this one didn't exactly become a hit, but had some fun things nonetheless; it's about planes and talking cats, check it out in the App Store), and Transport Empire (steampunk railroad management, if you are into it).

But first things first: thanks for your feedback and support! Throughout the years it was an immense help. You often wonder, why certain things don't get fixed fast, or why updates aren't coming sooner. Well, that's not because we don't want to, but rather we just have a small team: at no point there were more than six people working at Airport City, and this includes both all mobile versions and several versions for social networks (Facebook, and regional Russian, Chinese, Korean and Japanese ones).

Well, it's Christmas and New Year is coming soon, and I've thought it'd be a perfect time to share some of our plans with you for the coming year. That's "for your eyes only" as our most loyal fans!

1. We will add new land expansions, but you have to understand: as greensmith correctly guessed, it is the limits of our game architecture that prevent us from doing it easily. Facebook and mobile versions are too very different games at its core, that's why there are more expansions there. We don't want to rush this and get any profiles corrupted.

2. Some of the features of Facebook version will make it to mobile, like Reserve Hangar.

3. Some buildings will start giving bonuses to the buildings around them. For example, parks will boost number of passengers in residential buildings nearby. This one is coming soon.

4. We have new bonuses coming soon as well, and I mean entirely new, not a rehash of the old ones with slightly different numbers. Save up your tokens for those.

5. Level cap will be raised, new planes are coming along with new destinations and collections. New planes don't necessarily mean they'll be bigger than Giant and consume all of your passengers for a single flight. The first one of this new pack is Falcon, try to guess which plane it is based on :)

6. New space missions! We are going to Mars, folks, and with some luck building a habitable base there. This is a major update, our own Half Life 3 so to speak, and it will take awhile to get done. We're taking any suggestions into consideration.

7. More co-op and plaver-versus-player gameplay with unique rewards. We hate cheaters that screw up ratings as much you do, and we'll try ensure they don't spoil the fun for all of us, especially when you and your friends are having your own aviation alliance and compete with other alliances.

8. We have a new cleaner interface coming soon, so if you are that kid on a block with iPhone 6, you won't be ashamed to play Airport City any more.

9. You'll be able to store buildings in inventory.

10. I hope, you do like our quests, because big story from Facebook will be continued and brought to mobile.

I can't tell you a release date on any of this, because as I've said - we're a small team actually, and the 3+ year old game tends to break a lot (yes, we're aware of the Quantum Leap issue) which really distracts us from making new features. But if you do have a must-have feature in mind that's not mentioned above, be it a major or a minor one, post it in the comments. Please limit it to one feature per comment, so that others may upvote it with likes (Dave, that's a nice feature!).

If you are still reading this, here's a little Christmas present for you: add a promo-code / friend "AirportCityRocks" before January 1st. This should work on iPad, iPhone, Android, Amazon, Windows Store and Windows Phone. And while we're at it: we'd love to give you guys who play on iPads / iPhones weekend promo-codes, but Apple's policy prohibits us from it, and we can't risk an app getting removed because of it.

If you have any questions, I'll try to answer them as well.

Best regards and Merry Christmas!
your Airport City development team.

Thank you very much Ivan for sharing all this news on our forum! Nice to know that GI appreciates our posts and commitment to the game!
My biggest wish is land expansion to give all new store buildings and earned adventure/space/event building a place in my city without selling unique buildings, getting low on passengers-giving buildings or deconstruct my city plan with connecting roads. I hope one day there will be place for ever existing building, but I will be patient from now on!

Best regards and Merry Christmas for you and your team too!

Cheers,
Dick

your Airport City development team.

Thank you for your post Free2Play Was very informative - Its quite amazing really as I always pictured a huge team of at least 30 people working on the games. At least now everyone can understand the pressures you guys are under to develop, fix and deal with support with only a small team.

Loving the sound of the upcoming features for Airport City. Sounds like you and your team have your work cut out!

What i'll do is create a separate thread for people to post their must have features and link to it from this thread. Im pretty sure members will want to comment on what you have already written so the feature suggestions might get lost and mixed up.

Wow - "AirportCityRocks" - just inputted this code! Very very generous of you! Thank you :)

Just had a look at SunshineBay - Will have to download and give it a try (y)

Ivan,

It's great to know that Game Insight / Road 404 is reading this forum and getting constructive feedback!

I think most of the updates we wished for was already mentioned: new land, reserve hangar, new quests, new levels etc. It's incredible that only 6 people are working on the many versions of the game!!

Most people never play Airport City back when there were no such thing as neighbour visit. That really changed the social aspect of the game then. So, I am hoping the new coop and player vs player game play features will bring that kind of new excitement to the game!

Look forward to the new updates in 2015, but please test it thoroughly to make sure it doesn't corrupt the game.

Tom @greensmith , you will have to eat the Kardashians' hat collection :asshat:.

Ivan,
You had me at "Hi everyone." Just knowing that you and your team read this forum and are listening to us is a HUGE holiday gift. (And the AirportCityRocks gift isn't too shabby either.)
Thank you, thank you, thank you for giving us hope.
And @Bali Hi ... I'm ready to eat my words. Please pass the salt!
Road 404 4-ever!

I'm playing Sunshine Bay for a while (lvl 32), but can't find the submarine missions. What are the prerequisites?

Hi Free2Play
We the people of Windows 8 Airport City feel our game is a bit underdeveloped - no level 50, no Grand Hotel, no all those fancy buildings which can be found in Android version. Many of my lvl.40 friends just dropped the game after reaching the ceiling and seeing no sense to play further. Also, Windows AC utterly needs a game backup option, we suffer lack of this a lot.
Are you planning these features in the near future for Windows AC? Is there any chance we can start having the Weekend bonus code?

New feature requested (Windows 8/10) - Level 50 / Grand Hotel.

Free2Play , thank you for posting all this information, some great things to look forward to, it is fantastic to get this kind of information, hope it continues. Very glad to hear you are looking at the QL problem too which has had me scratching my head everytime I try and use one. Big thanks for an extra pressie at Christmas time with the code!

@greensmith , see what happens when you put a wish list out, hehe

I'm not sure I will like the player-vs-player challenge. I've always said that in AC you play against the game, not other players. In AC, your good neighbors help you with gifts and quests ... and you help them.
Everyone measures success in the game differently. For me, it's collecting all the stars possible. For others, it's earning tokens and reward buildings through launches and quests. But the constant is that you can't succeed without help from your neighbors.
I understand the concept of creating new challenges, but pitting neighbor against neighbor just seems outside the spirit of the game.
Just my opinion.
Cheers,
Tom

Free2Play Thanks very much for the sneak peek into the updates coming - this is VERY exciting news.

I do have one question for you however, which can hopefully be addressed in upcoming versions. The GI servers are still WAY too sensitive to the alleged time travel cheat. Personally, several of my games have been limited with this bug over the years and it is EXTREMELY frustrating to say the least. I may be wrong, but I would guess that over 95% of those accused have in no way cheated. There has to be something that can be done to correct this injustice. I have several great neighbors that are blocked or restricted because of this and did absolutely nothing wrong!!!

Also, thank you very much for the Christmas bonus. That was greatly appreciated and extremely timely!!! ;):D

Ivan,
I don't want you and your team to think that we at www.airportcitygame.com are a bunch of whiners. We love, LOVE, LOVE the game.
Speaking for myself, here's why I play Airport City and enjoy it so much. (And it's also why I don't mind spending real money on the game every so often.)
1. The game is beautiful to look at. The buildings are original and colorful. My favorite is the Townhouse with the two children tossing the ball back and forth. Very simple and very clever.
2. The quests are difficult yet doable. The Edge of Tomorrow challenge with the 17-hour maps was especially brutal. It took a lot of time and strategy to win that one. I literally jumped out of my seat and threw my arms up the air with pride when I finally did it.
3. Interfacing with neighbors is a delightful social aspect to the game. I can honestly say I consider many of my neighbors "friends" without ever knowing their real names or seeing their faces. We help each other out. We chat about our lives. We take care of each other when necessary. It's the very definition of the word "friend."
4. When @Bali Hi and @Suresh and others launched our very first Quantum Leap adventure many moons ago, I marveled at the fact that I was participating in a pioneering venture with people from all over the world. I don't play many other online games so this spirit of cooperation was new to me and I really liked it.
5. The game is just plane (pun intended) fun. It requires a lot of thinking ahead and planning next steps, which is what I like to do. (I was never that good at jumping and shooting games like the Mario series.) AC is a strategy game which my 70-year-old self can really appreciate. I have time. I have imagination. I don't have terrific hand-eye coordination. I know I'm not your target audience but I'm thankful that you didn't dumb down the game to appeal more to the younger set.
So thank you for creating and managing such a terrific game. We appreciate your efforts and can't wait to see what you come up with next.
Cheers,
Tom

Hi Free2Play , as other people has commented your post, Thanks for sharing with us, what's coming up for AC in 2015(y)(y)
Also thanks for your Christmas gift, you're indeed very generous!!!!!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you also and let's hope that: AIRPORT CITY WILL ROCK IN 2015:):):)

Hi Ivan, thanks a lot for sharing the ideas and I would like to thank you for a nice bonus. I would support Tom idea as I love to play against the game, not other players. I cross my fingers for the future development and more supporters. Would be honour to donate money just for the reason I like the game. Cheers
