It should be immediate reaction - you enter the code (with your computer/tablet/phone connected to internet) and you get pop-up screen with <2000 coins, 3 greens>. If it doesn't work, try to visit a real neighbor (this will prove you are connected to GI server and will kind of wake-up the connection) and then enter code again. Sometimes it helps
