It was - we have stayed there before as well as so dog friendly, great beers and whiskeys, and fantastic food. We have a cottage this year, but couldn't resist a meal there.

Pub lunch for today - for starters - crispy deep fried mushrooms, mixed salad with garlic mayonnaise dressing. Main course - fish and chips (cod, freshly battered using ale, with mushy peas and chunky chips) - sat outside in the garden and enjoyed the good afternoon weather.

argh - if only, very rainy up here in the lakes, but having some great pub food when we can - highlights were a delicious Cumberland sausage in a bun at a local country show, and today, on the shores of Coniston, a luxury grilled chicken and bacon bun, really good. Sunday lunch at a local pub was fantastic, with the local ale, and going for a fish and chip supper at the same pub tonight.

Tried something different for a light lunch yesterday - Avocado with the stone removed and replaced by Egg, baked in the oven and then topped with grilled bacon. Really tasty and different - enjoy!

Good morning neighbour, I will give your idea a go next week for lunch at home. We had Indian last night, all vegetable based for a change, no meat, chicken, beef etc. The meal went down a real treat with chilled beer. Have not decided about Sunday lunch yet.

I do like Indian, sounds good. We are home made slow cooked beef chilli again today, one of our favourites, especially when my daughter is home from Uni.
