Android No more event item drops once you finish missions

I just found out that no more event item drops available from any of the event bldgs (including neighbors') and all event flights once you finish all 3 missions, even without tapping Complete button.
This must be a bug.
Or, is this by design so we cannot collect for next time?

Same thing happened on the last event. I think it's so we can't collect for next time, like you said.

Why we need next time the drop if we complete the event ????
Next time only fly for stars if we did not complete 3 stars this year.
