What the heck - Time travel when you actually DO travel around the world???

I am through with GI...in their effort to go after cheaters/time travelers, they even target their long-time customers who've purchased greenies regularly, and who have been playing the game since its introduction to the App Store.

Last week I've been traveling from Europe to the US and back to Europe, with overnights stay in various countries and time zones...periodically turning my game on to play and back.

Today (finally home after 10 hectic days) I've opened the game only to find that I cannot do pretty much anything as I am a time traveler!!!

I sent them a very thoughtful message, and I am through playing this game.

Try changing your date and time settings to automatic and see if it works. If not, you'll have to wait for them to send you a one time unblock code for the time travel issue. Happened to me about a month ago.

I don't know...it will take at least a HUGE sorry from their side to convince me. I mean, it's a freaking GAME, not the fight for the rule of the world. If there are people who want to cheat, it's not like they are winning money from this, so I really don't understand GI's obsession with with this time travel thing. If anything, change the stupid game code to log the time a player goes online, and record it on the local device as well, disabling all action if the time is changed to a previous date/time that doesn't match the real date/time available from the internet...

I filed a ticket, but I am not really motivated to follow with it...

unfortunately because of the rapid time changes on your phone, the game registered these changes on the server and they leapt to the conclusion you were time travelling.

Some games that are connected to servers should not be played while travelling as your account may get screwed up because their server will register the changes and may cause your account to crash.

Very good luck I tried twice to get my game unblocked even got codes to release it but ultimately GI would not help and I was finally branded a cheat (again) and had to give up. I still play the game and wont give it up until I cant go any further just to stick it to GI

Maybe one day there poor programming will switch it back

of course not they are out to make money, if you do not spend on the game, do not expect any good help.

They will try to help you if they are between updates and your problem does not involve much work on their part.

Apparently I am allowed to play the game now (after two wasted days), but GI responded with their usual "Our technical experts are looking into this, and we'll get back to you as soon as possible"...

I'll try to at least gift some things back now that I can...

ahhh man I'm going through this with GI right now. My clocks changed on my phone by 1 hour due to daylight savings time. They are telling me my account is blocked and that I have to start the game again !!! I have asked what will happen if I start again and in 6 months time when daylight savings returns will I be blocked again. Waiting for a response...

that seems to be strange because i went throught the time change and it did not affect my game. Did you do any travelling recently ? There may have been other issues besides the time change.

I have travelled many times trough four time zones in both directions.
No any problems.
But!
Close your game completely before landing and re-run this game after your device will changed Time and Date only!

Well, that's perhaps the problem with me.

However, GI needs to understand that I use my iPad for work and many other activities, not to mainly play their games, so I don't feel that I need to take that action...

I have three games and one is blocked due to time travel. I can remember exactly when it happened coming back from a holiday. Since then I have set my clock to be permanently set to London time, that's the only way to stop it happening

I had the same problem, and after many explanatory emails to GI, the only option they gave me was to restart. The only credit I got was for the $9.99 I had spend. On the other hand, LAX was one of the first players to "friend" my new game although his game was partially blocked. It looks like after months they finally unblocked it! I wish I had had the patience. After months I'm still not back to where I was.

I've dealt with them on this as well and their customer support script is very weak. Essentially, when I fly to Denver, if I forget to completely close out of the game on my iOS devices, I'll find the time traveller error pop up and essentially I'm disabled for an hour. However, after that time, the game just resumes normal operations and nothing comes of it. But those guys are really terrible people when it comes to support. They have zero empathy and zero understanding. Part of the fun of playing their product is the fact that they have so many bugs in it and discovering bugs is a technical hobby and career of mine.

Lately I got the time travellers note too and it dissappeared right away after clicking some things in the game. Everytime it happens I got really scared..;)
I have had a constant error in the past when GI accused me of cheating/time travelling by reaction of my support ticket while I even didn't use the tablet or moved it even 1 cm.
You are given 1 second chance but I'm very sceptical about another possible warning... and am wondering what they are gonna do about it, even if it is not my fault.
