The Collector's Corner For Hobbies

Following the current world snooker championship, broadcast live by the BBC from Sheffield, I'm very tempted to purchase a new snooker cue and case, for my collection. As soon as I find some time I will look into this.

I used to watch Pot Black in black and white when I was a student. Colour tv's out of the question. You had to concentrate!

Yes, I remember Pot Black on TV, used to watch it and enjoyed it.

The blue, brown and reds were the difficult ones!

Did you really watch snooker in black and white TV ? ?
I find it so funny ! because the game is based on colored balls ! !

The research into the purchase of a new cue and case is progressing well but slowly, these things can not be rushed into - https://www.parriscues.com/ - it is an expensive investment, but well worth it, if you love the game of snooker and play it to a good standard.

Buying a new snooker cue and case is going to take time and patience, the choice is broad and so are the prices - https://www.parriscues.com/ - viewing on-line is not the answer. Will need to pay a visit to the shop, perhaps more than once.

I was very temped to start a new collection this week, I noticed in one of the upper market antique shops, a cigarette case and matching lighter. I asked the owner to put the case and lighter to one side, for a few days, so I could think about it. He was happy to do so, since I have been a good customer of his, for many years.

Nothing new to speak of with regards to buying a new snooker cue and case. Have just not found the time to focus on this as yet. The snooker club I use to belong to has also closed down. The search for a new snooker club continues.

For sometime now I have been meaning to make a start and catalogue my jazz albums. I started buying the albums in the early 1980's, and have never stopped. It will be quite an undertaking, but this I do not mind. It will also be an opportunity to replay those I have only played once or twice, since first buying them.

The Collector's Corner For Hobbyist
This newly created thread is for forum members who are also life long collectors, members who collect for pleasure and/or relaxation. Hobbies of course covers a broad spectrum of subjects, both indoors and outdoors, e.g. perhaps you collect original film posters, stamps, rare comics, first edition books, artwork, matchbox cars, building lego, collecting and playing retro boardgames etc.

Perhaps you are good with your hands and enjoy building model vintage air planes, building AM/FM radio kits, building remote control cars and truck kits, perhaps you have a workshop and enjoy working with wood and/or metal, pottery, fishing, gardening, photography etc.

As for myself, my collections are considerable, collecting shirts and cufflinks, jazz vinyl albums, Canon camera lens', mint gold and sterling silver boxed coins, to name but a few across a lifetime.

It would be good to hear from you and learn about your interests.

I am building an 00 model railway. 9 x 12 in a spare room. Always wanted one, and can have one now I'm retired.

It sounds like a wonderful project, it will keep you busy for a long time to come. Have always enjoyed model railway exhibitions, would love to set up one myself, but do not really have the room or the time it would take.

Hi Mr. C, I write thrillers and publish them under B. J. Kibble through Start Publishing NY, mind you, I can only write and edit for about four hours a day and then I run out of imagination/mojo :) ( A book from start to finish takes about a year). And now this thoroughly absorbing game is slowing down my output :). I concentrate on the railway in the winter. I read a lot but don't really have much time to do much else.

Cheers Baz :)

I have a bunch of HO scale trains from my childhood. Now that I have a son this may be something we will have to setup in a few years

Of all the hobbies I have and have had, my one regret is not having a model train set. If I had the time to dedicate to the model train set, the time required and the spare room I would do so.

As a coin collector myself of many years, it is not so strange, to read your post. I have been buying and collecting coins across many decades.
