Do rented plane passengers count in alliance totals?

Do the passengers from rented planes count in your alliance total?

Rented planes are the silver ones you can send on top of your fleet, to destinations which your level allows and cost greens to send out.

I accidentally rented one but couldn't figure out whether it counted or not...
