since most android devices are running marshmellow 6.0.1 or nougat 7.0.1.

GI has upgraded the game to accomadate these versions. It is not surprising that your device will not work.

Either upgrade the software or start using another device and start from level 1 again.

Not really. Lollipop still has a huge amount of usage out there, not too far behind Marshmallow. Even Kitkat it only 2% behind Marshmallow.

Free2play said the Unity engine requires android 4.4 and up.
However, I found it's not just a matter of android version, but perhaps also processor(?)
  • Nexus 7 running Lollipop works fine (Nvidia Tegra 3).
  • Xiaomi Redmi2 runnning Kit Kat 4.4.4 works fine (Snapdragon 410).
  • Galaxy Nexus running Jellybean 4.2.1 works fine (TI OMAP4470 chip).
  • Galaxy Tab 8.9 updated to Marshmallow (not official) (Nvidia Tegra 2), doesn't work

You can google 'airport city apk' and download from places other than google. When my device was not compatible I downloaded from apkpure, installed, and it worked just fine. Eventually my device became compatible again and I'm back using google play store.

You have to go into settings and 'allow installs from unknown sources' on your device to use something other than Google Play Store.

AirportCity does not like Intel processors. As far as I remember it is something related to unity framework (though I may be wrong). Also, I remember I read that now unity itself works on Intel processors just fine. I've got Asus ZenFone 2 and cannot update game via PlayStore. Installing manually apk works for me.

With the latest update we introduced some new features to the game that increased the system requirements to smoothly run Airport City. In this light some of the devices have become incompatible with the game including the model that you're using. I'll be glad to transfer your game progress to a compatible device in case you have one.

Waited in all day for my new tablet to arrive and I must admit the screen was lovely, however the audio sound like it was coming through a tin can!

So thats going back to Amazon. But I didnt want to be without a new toy after being so excited, so just did a 50 mile round trip to pick up a nice Samsung tablet.

The waiting continues as it charges!
