I have a Turboprop plane in the right-most regular Hangar. I want to put it into the Reserve Hangar.
IMG_3976.PNG

I tap the Reserve Hangar and find a Free slot. I tap Use.
IMG_3982.PNG

IMG_3977.PNG

The view changes to show which planes I cannot put in the Reserve Hangar (the ones in flight) and the ones I can. I tap the right-most Hangar. It turns green. I tap the green checkmark.
IMG_3978.PNG

The Turboprop is now in the Reserve Hangar.
IMG_3979.PNG

To replace the Turboprop back to the right-most Hangar, I tape Take. I choose the right-most Hangar. It turns green. I tap the green checkmark.
IMG_3980.PNG

And it's back in place.

Much, much easier than the original process.
Cheers,
Tom

Okay Tom, that seems simple enough.

Question. What happens if you put a plane in the rightmost hanger which is empty? (The hanger you moved the Turboprop plane from.) I take it you cannot just 'switch' the planes. You have to have an empty slot in the reserve hanger to move a plane into the Reserve Hanger, and you have to have an empty hanger to move a play out of the Reserve Hanger.

Have I got this right?

So I guess that the benefit of the Reserve Hanger is that if you have an expensive plane (eg Jumbo or Falcon) you can move it into the Reserve Hanger, so that you can use a less expensive plane (eg a Turboprop) for a while in that hanger, when you need to go to a lower level destination.

Thank you for the clarification and the screen shots.

While I did not do that, it does appear that I can put the Turboprop from the Reserve Hangar into any of the available regular Hangars (the ones without the blue hash mark). If I put the Turboprop in one of the other available regular Hangars (which contain Falcons at present), that Falcon would switch over to the Reserve Hangar.
You are correct about the benefit of the Reserve Hangar. Previously, you had to sell a plane to buy a new plane. It was very costly, especially if you had S1 or S2 planes that you paid for with Gold/Silver Tokens. The more slots you can open up in the Reserve Hangar (yes, they cost greenies/bank notes), the more flexible you can be with your planes. That's a very good thing.
Cheers,
Tom

THERE ARE 4 KEY PLANES TO HAVE IN RESERVE HANGAR OTHER THAN THOSE YOU FAVOR.
A: The 1st one, you used to fly to Egypt and Cyprus when you first began the game.
B; The 2nd one, covers two destinations needed to complete the set I'm about to reveal; Bali, (you need Landing lamps for) & Malta,( you need powerful radio transmitters for)
C: The 3rd one, flies to the Canary Islands; the large green jet, to acquire a fourth item.
D: the 4th and final, is the Powerful Delta, used to fly to Iceland where you will acquire the fifth and final Item.
All of the items are crests. A collection of crests, earns you a much needed item for events, known as the spyglass. It is a good idea to have these planes' as I said earlier in reserve at all times. If you have some free time on hand, or are just beginning a Quest/Event challenge, gather together a few spyglasses to have on hand, making events somewhat easier in gathering those very elusive items.
Depicted below is what each crest looks like and the collection it's in. Get to know it. And you may finally be gald you've accomplished a challenge one day.

I would not agree especially for item A - it cost a bargain and is always better to have free space for some more valuable plane. One red launch is covering costs for first 3 types of plane.
@Kesh
But there are some side quests, I have come across playing over time, that requires a player to return to Cyprus or Egypt to get something. But yes at only 450 coins, a better, more needed plane could be in that reserve slot.

Question to the experts.... I have 3 planes in my reserve hangar. If I upgrade the reserve hangar, will be planes be safe in it or will they *poof!* disappear?

They should be safe. All you will do, is increase the available slots. In a bit more fancy outside looks. Take a picture of planes you have inside, in case something goes wrong, you can open a ticket to GI... :D

Thanks. I will take a screenshot then. It's so sad that we can't even trust anymore. :D

Edit: I just upgraded it and my planes did not disappear. (y)

I didn't lose any of my 2 planes when I upgraded mine. Just remember you can't use the planes that are stored while it's building so plan accordingly :)
Yes, so it is better to collect all needed items in advance, then just speed up the building time... i am guessing you need greenies for thet, and not coins? o_O
