There is a lot of information about the Reserve Hangar on the forum and most of it resides in a number of different threads. I thought I would combine all the info into one guide.

The Reserve Hangar is a way to store planes you paid for and don't want to sell in order to buy new planes.

There are three levels of Reserve Hangars:
The first costs 5,000 coins and takes ____ days to build or ____ bank notes to build immediately. To complete the first level, you need four of each: Wheel Block, Protective Cover
The second level costs 16,000 coins and takes ____ days to build or ____ bank notes to build immediately. To complete the second level, you need four of each: Loader, Safety Cone, Fluorescent Lamp
The third level costs 60,000 coins and takes ____ days to build or ____ bank notes to build immediately. To complete the third level, you need four of each: Machine Oil, Exit Sign, Fire Extinguisher
All completion items are available as gifts from neighbors and as (very seldom) drops from a variety of destinations. Usually, one of each set can be had for free for watching a promotional video.

There are ten slots for planes. The first slot is free. The other nine cost bank notes: 10, 20, 30, 40, 60, 80, 100, 150 and 200. To buy all slots cost a total of 690 bank notes.

Here are the steps to place a plane in the Reserve Hangar:
1. Go to the store to buy a plane. In this case we are buying a Turboprop.
Step 1.jpg

2. Once you tap "Buy," the game will ask you where to place the plane. If there are no available hangars, you can put a new plane into any of the occupied hangars but the plane that is there now will be placed into the Reserve Hangar.
Step 2.jpg

3. Once you tap "Yes," the game will ask you into which hangar you want to put the plane.
Step 3.jpg

We're putting it into this hangar where a Jumbo currently resides. You cannot put the new plane into the hangar of a plane currently in flight. And here's the Jumbo in the Reserve Hangar:

WARNING:

Apparently there is a bug in the game whereby if you sell a regular Hangar, the plane that was assigned to that Hangar will disappear. I don't know if this bug has been fixed.

If anyone can help fill in the blanks or correct a mistake or offer more information, please post below!

Cheers,
Tom

@greensmith just to complete the guide, include how to restore a plane from reserve hangar. We must sale one to restore.
Maybe @greensmith didn't include it because it the restore system is the flawed one.
We should have the ability to exchange the plane in and out of the Reserve hangar without selling it.

You don't need to sell one of your fleet, you do need to keep one spare slot in the reserve hangar though. Then you can move whatever in and out at most having to spend 200 on a propellor driven and sell it again. Bit awkward but I can move my s3 giants and falcons around easily enough.
Good trick @M22 but it shouldn't be that way GI.

I have just put my first plane into the reserve hangar, and it worked fine. However I picked the wrong plane, so I am trying to move it back. When I click on the plane and select 'use' (I have a spare slot) and I get the option to select which hangar to put it into they all have the crossed out icon on top so I can not put it back in. I am trying to switch with a plane that is fully repaired and not out on a flight and it is my lowest level plane so the hangar is high enough level.

Any ideas on how to switch it back in there?

You need a spare hangar or reserve hangar place, ideally a spare reserve hangar place or you're going to have to sell one of your fleet to free up a place to move out of the Reserve hangar into. To put a plane into reserve it's best to buy the smallest plane for 200 to push the plane you want into reserve. Then sell the cheap plane and move out from reserve the one you wanted to swap. It's awkward and gi should just allow direct swaps!

Hmmm... this is all good fun until you have to upgrade a hangar and you move the plane to the reserve then sell the hangar and voila your jet has been deleted despite being in the reserve hangar :(. Not a big problem for you cash flush moguls no doubt lol but even 12000g is a lot for little me ;)

I have the same problem. I want to upgrade four hangars to Falcon-level but don't want the four Giants to disappear.
I don't know if this is a bug with the Reserve Hangar or if GI planned it this way. I take it back ... it must be a bug because GI doesn't plan very well.

maybe option "upgrade" for hangars would not be a bad idea (same as for main buildings. At least it would solve all current reserve hangar issues.

I have just finished my reserve hangar. I placed my powefull propeller driven plane in it. I bought my fourth jet plane and now all my hangars are full. If I understand this well, I have to build a new hangar if I want my propeller driven plane out of the reserve hangar, right?

Other options are either to buy additional slot in hangar, put one jet into it, purchase of cheapest plane, then sell cheapest plane and put it in current empty hangar or sell jet and put it into empty hangar.

I have carefully read through this guide. I am sorry but I do not understand how to make use of the Reserve Hanger. I have one but I do not see what benefit, if any, it provides. If you cannot use it to swap planes from the Reserve Hanger to a regular hanger, then what good is the Reserve Hanger? Perhaps someone can enlighten me with step by step instructions that start with all 9 (or whatever) hangers are full, and the Reserve Hanger (with one slot) is empty.

In my humble opinion GI makes AC needlessly complicated and difficult to figure out.

@Canadian Cowboy
Before the update, switching planes from Reserve Hangar to regular Hangar was complicated. After the update it is supposed to be much easier. I only updated yesterday and have not tried out the new Reserve Hangar yet. I will post here when I do.
Cheers,
Tom
