More newbie questions

I'm on level 30 and finally found the weekly offer!
This forum is hard to search, so please forgive my questions.

1. What is the purpose of the flashing speed up? Does it give extra xp or anything?

2. I purchased the new romance cafe, but now find I won't be able to use it (since I can't fly everywhere). Does this building have any purpose when the event ends or no? I'd rather have the chess club income than passengers right now.

3. Can this game be played without the rocket launches? I don't have room for it and wonder if I'm really missing out.

4. Are the 4 offered friends always active ones? I'm finding it very hard to find active friends here. Please add me, I play on my android notebook.

ad 1) the purpose is to notify you of Fuel Catalyst using possibility. Window for using it lasts only 60 seconds, hence the flashing alert. It gives shorter time.

ad 2) most likely after the event ends it will convert into regular passengers.

ad 3) well, I played without them so far, and just been told that I'm missing much. More specifically: a mad source of coins that red launch brings. I skipped green and blue and went straight for red - which costs 600k.

ad 4) ignore them, get neighbors here : D

4) do the friends I may find here need to be android? Where do I find friends that want to play with newbies??

1) Yes. You either get them as gifts or (as devs intended) buy them for real money. Tip: you may want to save them for long flights.
4) You can be friends with any platform: Android, iOS, Windows PC, Windows Phone. But gifting is somehow divided into 2 camps: Android and iOS in one and both Windows in the other. It doesn't really costs much for capped players to accept your requests so just write PMs and ask.

BTW: set up your signature like everyone else - it's quite important to be able to tell who you're dealing with.

4) I just added my first trade thread under android etc thread. Do I wait to see who contacts me here by PM or do I? How can I tell wanted friends from neighbors offered?

Sorry to be so dense, it's age related, I'm sure.

1) Use Fuel catalyst sparingly as the only free source is gifts from neighbours.

It is useful for speeding up long duration flights, I usually use it to speed up flights slightly so that it returns before I go to bed ( then I can send it off for another 8 hour flight).

3) You can play the game without doing rocket launch but you will progress slowly.
Doing launches is like playing the game on steroids.

Red rocket launch is a useful source of coins & fuel, especially if used in conjunction with a Business Class / Quantum Leap.
If you join a QL party, you can do dozens of launches in a couple of hours.
Each launch will give 1,000 - 20,000 coins. Business Class will triple that.
Just tagging along and coming in last will still give you a Space for Starters 3 chest which contain Fuel(50).

- Put your game level in your signature, so that people can estimate flight items you need.
- Try to find players on the same level as you, so that you can progress together by exchanging mutually needed items.
- Different level players usually have different needs, don't expect them to return low level gifts.
- Most importantly, post daily on the Daily Trading Thread the items you need. When forum members read your post, they will be more likely to help you.

I think there is confusion about speeding flights. Because there are 2 ways to do that. You can instantaneously complete a flight, any time, by using fuel. Or you can click the tiny >> button on the flight progress bar to speed up the flight a little, at cost of 0 fuel but 1catalyst. That's possible only 2 times per flight (one on very short flights).

@mia/a1r1vry put what you need in your signature, that'll give other people idea where you're at. If you don't have any immediate needs (is it possible at all?) than use airportcity.wikia.com to find out what your next Terminal/TownHall/RepairBase will need before you start upgrading it.

I looked in my storage and found 3 fuel catalyst then sped up a jet without the flashing speed up. I found that I only used fuel to speed up, yay!

Now another question, I find what I can trade in the gifts section, not my storage, right?

@L don't be afraid to ask questions,no questions no answers and that my dear is how we lyour game that's all that mattersearn is through questions. Every 15 days or so GI will throw a challange @ us, and this valantines challange we have now is STUPID you build the buildings it tells you and then when you get a carriage house for finishing a task.
the people here in forums are a great bunch of people we have people on windows, android, iphones, and whatever else you can play this on i wouldn't be surprised if you can play i on Xbox.

So, looking at my airport, I don't see any way to fit in the 3x3 launchpad Will I need the mission control building as well?

Do they ever offer coin discounts on expansions or no? I seem to have made my city too big and airport too small. I've got 70k of the 200k!! Can anyone look at my plot and offer advice?

@mia/a1r1vry Yes, items in your inventory are only yours. "trading" refers to free gifts.

I recommend you wait for "3x more" green cash sale and then buy 96 greens for about $10 (or one should be in it's last hours now). Then pay great attention to not accidentally spend them on stuff, but wait for "50% land sale" and then blow it all on land.
Just don't overbuild your airport side, as there is much, much less stuff to place on the airport side.

And ofc keep an eye on the FB page for weekend codes - that's usually 3 free greens every week!

MCC is absolutely necessary, and it has to be upgraded to the correct level as well - to build red pad costs only 200k, but to start using it requires 400k to upgrade MCC.

1) At the initial stages of the game, earning coins is the hardest aspect of the game.
You need to fly all the time and build building that earns you the most coins (hint: Car Dealerships is good if you are willing to click every 20 minutes - you can build up to 6). It pays itself in 200 minutes. You can sell it later when you need the land.

2) Whenever there is a quest, try to fly and collect as many collections as possible. Once you "complete" (don't do that), the destinations disappear and there is no more collections to do (which means loss of easy coins income).

3) Avoid building (mostly) useless buildings that the side quests ask you to do (Hotel, Duty Free, Sports Shop, Travel Agency, Cosmic Fuel Station, Baggage Hall etc), unless it is required for an ongoing quest. Some of them requires you to collect stuff and distracts you from earning as much coins as fast as possible.

If in doubt, ask for opinion in the forum.

4) If you like to beautify your city, you will probably progress slower. You will progress faster if your city is packed like sardines (like mine). But I do envy people with big cities with very nice / unusual layout.

Ok, I've looked at your airport and I see that you have already built the Duty Free & Hotel . Nothing you can do about it .

Consider getting rid of some or all of your 3 Perfume Stores & 3 Chess Clubs (they only produce 70 coins every 1.5 hours & 90 coins every 4 hours). Car Dealerships is a better deal (36 coins every 20 min).

Now that you have deleted a few 2x2 buildings, it would be easier for you to re-arrange your city and get rid of non-productive roads. You need to do some simulation of the best layout to pack the buildings on current land (and the next 1 or 2 future planned expansion).

Consider building a 2x2 Coal Station (no road necessary) to replace 4 of your 7 Windmills.

Do not upgrade your Town Hall & Fuel Station until you really need to and have collected all the items needed (check Airport city wikia).

You cannot build a 3x3 Red Launch Pad & 3x3 MCC without buying some land on airport side. That will have to wait until you have earned the coins / greenies. But the wait will be even longer if you first build a Green Launch Pad & Blue Launch Pad, so I advice you to skip green & blue and build the Red Launch pad first. You will need a lot of patience (maybe 2 months?) as the coins will build up very slowly, and MCC 1, 2 & 3 upgrade is very expensive, but in the end you will progress much faster when you start doing Red Launches & join QL parties.

It depends on how often a person can play. For someone playing every 4-5 hrs Chess Clubs are perfect. Not everyone can click every 20 mins : D

Yes, of course. Different strokes for different folks.

But I believe most people play intensively for at least 1 or two hours everyday, and these 20 minute Car Dealerships can really generate good amount of coins.

Yikes! I need the MCC before I can even launch?

I do play like a mad women, every hour or so, so am collecting at least 20k a day. I have the greenies for 2 more expansions, I assume I will need at least 2 for the pad and the MCC.
Thanks for the visit to my plot, it's sure hard to move stuff in there. Will try the coal plant and another car dealership. Wish me luck!

Be sure you don't spend greenies to expand until the 50% off deal.

and you need 600k coins (200 for red pad, 400 for mcc lvl3)
